I woke up in a grouchy state of mind this morning. It may be because my baby sister left today. My parents leave in the morning. I’ll see them in a month, but I don’t like saying goodbye. I drank my coffee and that didn’t really help. My husband tried humor, and that didn’t help.
I guess it is just one of those days when I have to choose to smile, WIFLION—Whether I Feel Like It Or Not.
It reminded me of a poem I found in my new poetry book. (New to me—check out my other blog at miriamjonesbradley.wordpress.com)
TRY SMILING
When the weather suits you not,
Try Smiling.
When your coffee isn’t hot,
Try smiling.
When your neighbors don’t do right,
Or your relatives all fight,
Sure ‘tis hard, but then you might
Try smiling.
Doesn’t change the things, of course—
Just smiling.
But it cannot make them worse—
Just smiling.
And it seems to help your case,
Brightens up a gloomy place,
Then, it sort o’ rests your face—
Just smiling.
