Last Friday night I had my book signing at the Bible Book Store in Salisbury. It was a grand evening. I sold a couple of copies of my first book but the most exciting part was the fact that I could be in an honest-to-goodness Christian Bookstore selling my books and making friends. You know me, it’s almost as much about the social activity as it is about the books. Sorry folks, that’s just how it is. I look forward to going back there again for another book signing someday.
The cool part for me was when I saw my friend and editor extraordinaire’s books there. Susan Marlow edited my first book for me and is an amazement and wonder. She writes the Andrea Carter mysteries and I was delighted to see her books on the shelf. When I commented about it to the manager of the store she informed me that Susan USED to come here since her daughter lived in Salisbury for a while. She has met my editor. I’m jealous.
Anyway, it was a great evening. This morning I went to the mall to check out the possibilities there and I found a Books A Million store and the manager seemed interested in arranging a book signing. Yay!
In addition, Bruce found notification yesterday of a wonderful review of my first book complete with a book give-away! So, if you want to check that out here is the link. http://heartofthematteronline.com/double-cousins-and-the-mystery-of-the-missing-watch-a-giveaway/
Finally, children everywhere are back to school! This means that I will be trying to visit schools. Yay! This is my favorite activity related to my books. It also allows me to use the education degree I obtained while at Northland. (That was another opportunity in my life that was mostly a social event clothed in education). I have had contact with several teachers and am in hopes that I’ll be able to line up a couple of visits a month.
As I type this I am hearing a little voice in my head saying – nay shouting – ARE YOU CRAZY???? How do you think you are going to do all of those things and get moved, a house ready to sell, a garden finished for the winter, and ready for a two-week visit from the parents and sister?????
I am going to do it one day at a time by the grace of God. I am going to take the opportunities as they arise and pray for the wisdom to avoid scheduling too much. I’ll let you know how I do with that. Stay tuned.
